Reporting Line: Head of Community Mobilisation

Role Purpose

Support with managing and enhancing operational excellence, communications, and stakeholder engagement with community leaders, volunteers and partner organisations to improve the educational support TFM provides to the underserved students.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of volunteers to build a sufficient pool and support them in staying committed throughout the programme.
  2. Monitor the attendance of students and Volunteer Tutors (VTs) and coordinate substitutes for any absences to ensure that all tutoring sessions are fully conducted and commitments are upheld.
  3. Assist the Project Lead with the administrative and operational tasks of the weekly tutoring program for the PPR communities to ensure smooth operations.
  4. Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders and organise community engagement initiatives to maintain a long term relationship with the communities for future educational support initiatives.
  5. Assist in the process of collecting and analysing feedback and project data to report the impact and project progress to stakeholders, drive strategic decision-making, and inform future improvements.

Role Requirements

Competencies required for the role

As people join TFM, we expect individuals to be aligned with our core values, have passion and drive to the TFM mission. This role is required to work 4 weekdays and 1 weekend whereby the work days are Tuesday to Saturday.

Technical/ Functional competencies:

  • Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Basic ability to track and analyse data to monitor progress or report impact.
  • Clear and confident communicator to be able to represent student voices with clarity and conviction
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships with students, diverse individuals, external stakeholders and volunteers with good and clear communication skills.
  • Basic experience with data analysis and data visualisation to be able to track, measure and present students progress.
  • Must be able to travel independently between multiple work sites.
  • Basic proficiency in Google Suites products such as Google Documents, Google Sheets and Google Slides.
  • Willing and able to readily adopt and utilise any TFM database or technological platform / application (i.e. Confluence, Salesforce, Zoom, project management softwares etc.)

  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to manage multiple streams of work, and independently prioritise tasks
  • Strong desire to learn new things and grow professionally
  • Ability to be adaptable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees and stakeholders
  • Basic understanding of community development and is committed to nurturing student voice, confidence, and agency.
  • Ability to empathise with students from diverse backgrounds and academic levels in order to tailor the projects to meet the diverse students needs.

Experiences & qualification

  • At least 1-year experience in organising and facilitating community events or related activities. 
  • Fresh graduates with strong leadership experience will be highly considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in any field. Preferences for education, social sciences or related fields
  • Strong written and verbal skills and excellent proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
