Role: Community Mobilisation Director

Role Purpose
Drives the collective leadership and mobilisation through building a movement that empowers students, communities, and key leaders in the education ecosystem to take action toward educational equity in alignment with Teach For Malaysia’s mission.
Principal Accountabilities
- Formulate and develop the direction and overall strategy of the Community Mobilisation function to mobilise a diverse and inclusive movement across the TFM strategic pillars and education ecosystem.
- Develop and lead platforms, programmes and/or structures that enable and empower students, communities, volunteers and broader leaders in the ecosystem to align to TFM’s mission.
- Develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, organisations and/or communities aligned to TFM’s vision in order to expand the movement of leaders.
- Drive the incubation and launching process of new innovations within the organisation and the broader network that contributes to the transformation of the education ecosystem.
- Drive the initiatives and be the catalyst that enable members of the network to assume new positions of leadership in high impact pathways.
- Collaborate with other members of the SLT to drive organisation-wide strategic initiative, foster a values-based culture that is sustainable and foster the development of individuals/teams.

Technical/ Functional competencies:
- Ability to develop and grow long term partnerships with both public and private sector organisations to grow TFM’s impact
- Ability to map the system to identify social innovation needs, and incubate leadership to launch new innovations.
- Strong programme development and management skills, especially in visualising, designing, planning and hosting community-based events and initiatives.
- Stay abreast with relevant policies, regulations, and trends affecting the community.
- Excellent proficiency in MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel
- Willing and able to readily adopt and utilise any TFM database or technological platform / application (i.e. Google Suites, Confluence, Salesforce, Zoom, project management softwares etc.)

- Proactive self-starter with the ability to manage multiple streams of work, and independently prioritise tasks
- Strong desire to learn new things and grow professionally
- Ability to be adaptable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and dynamic environment

- Ability to think systemically and strategically on the direction, programmes and partnerships TFM is engaging in to grow a movement of leaders that are focused on fighting education inequity.
- Ability to mobilise and convene diverse groups of people across all layers of the education ecosystem, and facilitate safe and effective dialogue that enables communities to make progress together.
- Strong belief and advocate in the importance of collective leadership, and able to centre the voice of students and communities in the education transformation agenda.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset, with a desire and ability to think creatively to expand the community of leaders who champion education and expand educational impact.
- Strategic planning and execution by aligning the team on a vision of success, planning strategically and monitoring progress systematically
- Ability to strategically embed a sustainable team culture that values both development and performance against ambitious goals
Experiences & qualification
- At least 8 years of working experience, including relevant experience in partnership development, programme development and/or project management in the education sector
- Experience in leadership roles, managing teams across different portfolios and programme management
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree qualification
- Experience leading and motivating large cross-functional teams, building culture and being responsible for team growth and development.
- Strong written and verbal skills and excellent proficiency in English and basic proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia
