Introduced in July 2018, Setel is a mobile platform that aims to delight customers by innovating for better, inclusive mobility. Setel serves customers across Malaysia by powering one app as the constant companion to ease motorists’ journey across fueling, parking, EV charging, motor insurance, road tax, auto assistance, general purchases, and more across an ecosystem of PETRONAS petrol stations, retail partners, and online merchants.
Role Purpose:
Drive the development and enhancement of scalable, high-performance software systems, while collaborating with multiple teams for effective integration, providing technical leadership, and ensuring system reliability, security, and performance to deliver business line objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop high-complexity project solutions for one or multiple teams by ensuring technical strategic alignment to achieve business goals.
- Manage the identification and resolution of defects and technical debts across multiple teams to maintain high system quality by coordinating with teams, implementing effective solutions, and contributing to code improvements that ensure stable and reliable software.
- Supervise and guide the development of documentation across multiple teams to ensure consistency and support effective onboarding.
- Lead the development process for multiple teams by establishing guidelines and ensuring adherence to coding standards to maintain consistent code quality.
- Facilitate communication with stakeholders and team members to manage expectations and feedback, ensuring project requirements are met and business line goals are achieved.
- Train and mentor multiple teams by providing high-level guidance to influence team practices for better professional skills in business goal delivery.
You're a great fit if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
- Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on distributed system development.
- Mastery in at least one main backend programming language or framework (e.g., JavaScript, Go, Java, Node.js, NestJS, ExpressJS).
- Strong bias for action with proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in Agile methodologies.
- Experience in designing scalable and robust software systems, including microservices architecture, ensuring high availability and reliability, and handling real-time data processing.
- Track record of leading projects from concept to deployment, ensuring high quality and timely delivery.
- Proficient in DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
