Role Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Manager, People Operations & Industrial Relations (IR) to lead and oversee the HR functions that are vital to Setel's smooth operation. You will be responsible for managing HR processes, policies, and systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the development of a strong organizational culture. In This Role You Will:
HR Operations:
- Lead and manage the HR Operations team, overseeing the full spectrum of people operations functions.
- Review, develop, and continuously improve HR policies, processes, and procedures, focusing on driving efficiency, simplicity, and employee-centricity.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employee inquiries, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret HR data to identify trends and insights, providing regular HR reports to support business decisions.
- Oversee and manage the maintenance of the HR Information System (HRIS), ensuring accuracy and functionality.
- Oversee and manage HR administration, including but not limited to medical insurance, payments, employees’ leaves and communicating updates to employees regarding any changes.
- Oversee and manage the offboarding process, ensuring smooth and compliant employee exits.
HR Business Partner (HRBP):
- Cultivate strong relationships with both internal and external business stakeholders.
- Proactively identify HR solutions based on an in-depth understanding of business needs.
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Act as a trusted advisor for employees while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
Industrial Relations (IR):
- Ensure strict compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations, including the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, Trade Unions Act, and other statutory requirements governing employment relationships and industrial disputes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for managing and resolving conflicts between employees and the company, addressing issues related to working conditions, workplace practices, and other employment-related matters.
- Provide expert advice on the interpretation and application of company policies, Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, Anti-Sexual Harassment Act 2022, Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and other Malaysian labor laws to ensure fair treatment and minimize legal risks.
- Oversee and ensure effective grievance handling processes, ensuring that employee complaints are addressed promptly, transparently, and in accordance with legal requirements.
- Implement and monitor proactive initiatives to prevent industrial disputes and promote a positive workplace culture, driving employee engagement and organizational alignment.
- Regularly review and update internal policies and practices to stay compliant with evolving labor laws and industry standards, ensuring the organization’s ongoing legal and regulatory compliance.
Other Assignments:
- To Assist with any related tasks, projects, and other assigned duties as and when deemed necessary.
You're A Great Fit If You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
- 6 years of experience in HR operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory position
- Thorough understanding of Employment Act, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Strong knowledge of HR systems and software; experience with HRIS implementation is advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Analytical and data driven, able to develop dashboard or analysis to support key HR and management decision making
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent is a plus.
