Why PayNet / Why Now
- PayNet is transitioning from a single-entity mindset to a multi-entity, multi-stakeholder financial ecosystem.
- Governance expectations from Board, regulators, and shareholders are increasing in complexity and scrutiny.
- Finance must move beyond control execution into shaping decisions, structures, and risk posture.
- The role defines how financial decisions are structured, approved, and governed across the Group.
TL; DR
- Own and shape finance governance across PayNet at Group level.
- Act as a trusted governance partner to Finance and stakeholders.
- Develop judgment in how financial decisions are framed, approved, and controlled.
- Build governance discipline that scales with PayNet’s expansion.
Why This Role Matters
- Weak execution at this layer creates governance gaps and late escalations.
- Strong governance directly impacts Board confidence, regulator trust, and shareholder alignment.
- Strong execution enables smoother Board processes, clearer approvals, and reduced risk.
- This role develops judgment through real governance exposure, not back‑office policy work.
What You Will Actually Do
- Serve as Finance's first line of defence for governance discpline, ensuring the Finance scorecard, policies, and operating procedures are current, coherent, and consistently applied.
- Own Finance governance across the Group, shaping how financial decisions are structured, approved, and controlled across Board, committees, and management.
- Lead Finance inputs into Board and committee papers, defining decision narratives, surfacing trade-offs, and strengthening approval clarity.
- Act as central authority on financial governance and risk, aligning regulator-facing matters, new entity setups, and emerging financial risks with a clear, consistent position.
Examples of This Role in Practice
- Shaping the financial narrative, risk framing, and approval pathway when a capital investment proposal lacks sufficient clarity for Board decision-making.
- Evaluating trade-offs and influencing stakeholder decisions when shareholder-related proposals involve competing strategic priorities.
- Prioritising risks and redefining approval boundaries when multiple finance initiatives create competing governance demands.
- Aligning stakeholders and driving a coherent financial position when regulatory engagements require a unified organisational response.
What Will Help You Succeed
- Strong grounding in finance, audit, risk, or governance within complex organisations.
- Comfort working across functions and engaging senior stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail paired with practical, commercial judgment.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and defining structure where none exists.
