What You Will Actually Do

• Design and lead architecture for scalable, high‑performance backend systems
• Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java, Golang, or Python
• Design and optimize database schemas and queries to ensure performance and data integrity
• Own end‑to‑end delivery from design through deployment and post‑release stability
• Review code, mentor junior engineers, and uphold engineering best practices
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive continuous system improvement

What Will Help You Succeed

Required

• Strong proficiency in Java with deep understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns, along with strong hands-on experience in Spring Boot, including core concepts such as dependency injection, request lifecycle, and framework design decisions.
• Proven ability to design and build end-to-end scalable backend systems, including RESTful APIs and overall system architecture.
• Strong understanding of system design principles, including scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Solid experience with relational databases (SQL), including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Strong problem-solving ability to analyse, debug, and resolve complex technical issues systematically.
• Good understanding of unit testing and test strategy design.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive engineering best practices.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.

Good to Have

• Exposure to other backend languages/frameworks (e.g. Golang, Node.js)
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems architecture
• Experience with AWS cloud services
