Senior Backend Engineer - Cards Team

Summary of responsibilities

As the Senior Engineer, your development skills will be utilized across full software development lifecycle providing deep technical expertise and is tasked with the responsibility for the co-planning, co-design, implementation, services migration, operations and on-going maintenance of card applications.

Additionally, the role shall focus in improving the software end-to-end for each and every business process by engineering each and every software component of the technology stacks.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

• Develop high quality, secure, scalable software solutions based on technical and architecture design and design artifacts within expected time and budget.
• Key participant in a cross-functional team (consisting of network, storage, compute, security) which will be involved in the planning, design, implementation and operations of our Future State Architecture (FSA).
• Future State Architecture will cover the following minimally: product selection of compute, fiber-channel storage arrays, enterprise backup appliances, physical and logical placement of systems elements, design and implementation of ancillary tools and services such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, Terraform, Vagrant, Postgres + Corosync, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Postfix, DHCP, anycast DNS, NTP, and log forwarders among others if applicable.
• Responsible for the detailed planning and execution of the multi-year phased services migration (such as Card System Modernization etc) to the Future State Architecture with minimal downtime from a systems perspective.
• Keep abreast on emerging systems technologies which may be appropriate for adoption which would supplement our agility and provide the foundation to execute organization goals in an expedited manner.
• May lead project and systems integration with internal and external parties to ensure a successful implementation, when necessary.
• To build and enhance the systems monitoring capability: capacity, response and service degradation.
• To maintain an accurate record reflecting the current and historical systems settings including the decision-making rationale for said configuration.
• To inculcate the best practices, operational discipline and guidelines across the systems team.
• To participate in yearly audit exercises and ensure requirements are adhered to at all times.

Organizational (Organizational Responsibilities)

To participate in other working groups of small projects undertaken by the division on issues with regards to Systems Architecture & Design.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a high-pressured System Integrator environment – exceptional self-starters will be considered.
• Experience in the IT banking and Card Payment sector would be an added advantage.

Technical Qualifications

• Advanced level knowledge across Linux, Unix and Windows platforms.
• Must be adept at programming in Java, J2EE, API Web Services (REST, SOAP), integration patterns and experienced in Spring and Hibernate frameworks.
• Added advantage for having experiences in online transaction processing, ISO8583/20022 specifications, EMV/MCCS standards.
• Added advantage for having experience performing systems automation using tools like Ansible (preferable) / Chef / Puppet / etc to drive any of the following: system deployment, software management or deployment in a Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment fashion.
• Implementation experience with:- Kafka, NATS, SMTP, Tomcat, Apache, Oracle WebLogic, Oracle DB, JBoss, Spring, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana among others will be an advantage.
• Implementation experience with Cloud offerings from AWS, Azure or GCP such as EC2, ECS, S3, Route53, ELB, Stackdriver, RunScope, PagerDuty, DBaaS will be an advantage.
