About the Technology Division:

Building the backbone of Malaysia’s payment infrastructure. Led by Chief Technology Officer, Technology designs, evolves, and secures the always-on architecture that powers trusted, scalable digital payment services for the nation.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

• Lead the Application Modernisation programme to build and reengineer scalable, high availability payment systems for Shared ATM Network and MyDebit.
• Own end-to-end system solution delivery, including architecture design, technical specifications, development, production migration, and post-implementation support.
• Design and implement resilient backend architectures using Java/J2EE, Spring, REST/SOAP web services, and industry-standard integration patterns.
• Drive adoption of Cloud-based and DevOps methodologies (e.g., AWS/GCP/Azure, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code) to enhance scalability, resilience, and deployment efficiency.
• Architect and maintain API-driven platforms leveraging API Gateway, automated testing frameworks, and observability tools (e.g., ELK, Grafana, Prometheus) to ensure system performance and reliability.
• Take full accountability for existing functional and technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business, regulatory, security, and performance requirements.
• Lead complex system integrations, including payment network connectivity and transaction processing systems, coordinating with internal teams and external partners for successful implementation.
• Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, and performance optimisation to maintain high system availability and service reliability.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture governance, code reviews, technical documentation, and enforcement of engineering best practices.
• Coach and mentor senior and junior engineers to strengthen technical capability and foster a high-performance engineering culture.

What will make you successful?

Must-have:

• Minimum 9 years of hands-on backend engineering experience, with proven track record in designing and delivering high-availability, mission-critical systems.
• Strong expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring framework, REST/SOAP web services, and backend architecture design on Linux/Unix platforms.
• Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end system delivery, including architecture design, development, production deployment, incident resolution, and post-implementation support.
• Proven experience in cloud and DevOps environments (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code) with ability to build scalable and resilient platforms.\

Advantages to have:

• Experience in banking, card payment, fintech, or high-volume transaction processing environments.
• Knowledge of payment standards such as ISO8583, ISO20022, EMV, or related card scheme integrations.
• Experience leading system integration and production migration involving internal and external stakeholders.
• Hands-on exposure to automation/configuration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform).
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., ELK stack, Grafana, Prometheus) and performance optimisation practices.
• Exposure to enterprise middleware and platforms such as Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss, Oracle DB, JPOS, or similar technologies.
