SUMMARY


Assist the Head of Education to build and maintain relationships with senior leaders in Ministry of Education, universities, specialized education institutions, banks and other external stakeholders. Act as the strategic interface between PayNet and the top management of external stakeholders. Influence stakeholders to execute campaigns and implement measures to catalyze digital payment adoption at higher education institutions (HEIs). Act as an advocate for stakeholders and ensure positive stakeholder perception of PayNet.


KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES


Strategic Development

  • Assist Head of Education in strengthening relationship with HEIs to secure their participation in PayNet initiatives.
  • Provide strategic insights and solutions stakeholders, identify opportunities for industry collaboration and harness collective industry efforts to support the transition of HEIs into “Cashless First Campuses”.
  • Lead and coordinate efforts with financial institutions, non-bank payment services providers and other key stakeholders to improve the efficiency, inclusiveness, and value proposition of the digital payment ecosystem at HEIs.
  • Monitor and implementation and impact of PayNet’s initiatives at HEIs, prepare progress reports and provide recommendation to address challenges.


Building Relationships

  • Act as a trusted advisor and the intermediary between senior leaders of HEIs and other stakeholders within PayNet.
  • Ensure that industry views and needs are taken into account and PayNet’s initiatives are syndicated with the senior leadership of HEIs and other stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in internal and external engagement in harnessing potential business opportunities for PayNet, with greater focus on the Education sector.
  • Obtain market intelligence by actively syncing up with internal as well as market leads on industry developments and plans and to synergise it with HEIs’ needs.


Advocacy

  • Advocate for stakeholders to ensure PayNet’s services and initiatives meet their business priorities and needs.
  • Assist Head of Education to shape and build positive stakeholder perception of PayNet.
  • Build PayNet’s credibility and communicate PayNet’s value proposition to align initiatives with HEI’s strategic objective.


Leadership

  • Provide guidance and advise to junior team members in ensuring the functions under Government Digitalisation Division is met and in line with the organization’s objectives
  • Coordinate with other departments/divisions to ensure PayNet’s products, services and initiatives are communicated to the stakeholders effectively
  • Shape and reinforce a customer-focused, high performance organisational culture
  • Act as advocate and change agent to continuously improve engagement processes and outcomes


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in government relations function, public policy or a related field
  • Strong understanding of government processes, advocacy strategies and stakeholder management
  • Good understanding of Malaysian payments landscape and the financial industry at the broader level
  • Well versed with PayNet products/services
  • individuals in this role must:
  • Be able to communicate effectively, negotiate, manage conflict, build alliances and manage relationships.
  • Excellent in people skills, decision making, organizing and planning
  • Display strong empathy skills, able to listen effectively and have good diplomacy skills
  • Have a passion in championing digital payments in Malaysian education sector
