About The Opportunity

Through our fractional HR partnership, One People Team (OPT) is supporting a growing FinTech organisation in Malaysia as it scales its strategy, operations, and transformation capabilities.

The organisation builds and operates fintech and banking technology platforms that support complex, regulated financial services and mission-critical transactions.

As the organisation enters its next phase of growth, they are looking for a Chief of Staff to drive strategic initiatives, strengthen operational execution, and enable cross-functional alignment across the business.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership, shape key priorities, and drive high-impact transformation initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

About The Role

Great leaders know their strength is not in execution details, but in setting direction, inspiring teams, and seeing the bigger picture. The Chief of Staff plays a critical role in bridging that gap by translating vision into action and strategy into delivery.

Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Transformation, this role acts as a central driver of business transformation initiatives. While not owning every workstream directly, you will ensure progress moves forward by coordinating teams, governing execution, surfacing blockers early, and maintaining momentum across initiatives.

This is a generalist role by design. The Chief of Staff operates across functions, connects priorities, and translates ideas into structured, actionable plans that drive execution.

Why This Role Matters

The organisation is at an inflection point. Modernising core systems, building new commercial capabilities, and overhauling operational functions are all happening in parallel.

Functional leaders will own these workstreams, but without strong coordination across initiatives, priorities can drift, timelines can slip, and critical decisions may be delayed.

This role ensures that strategy is translated into execution by driving alignment, maintaining momentum, and ensuring transformation initiatives deliver real outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Driving Business Transformation

  • Coordinate and govern a portfolio of concurrent transformation initiatives, including ERP rollout, finance and accounts modernisation, sales function build-out, customer success revamp, and business operations overhaul.
  • Work with functional leads to ensure each initiative has a clear plan, the right resources, and accountable owners.
  • Track progress across all workstreams and surface risks, blockers, and trade-offs to leadership early.
  • Challenge assumptions and ensure clarity on ownership, capacity, trade-offs, and success measures.

ERP & Finance Operations

  • Coordinate ERP implementation across finance, accounts, and operations, ensuring stakeholders are aligned, decisions are made on time, and adoption is effectively managed.
  • Work with finance and accounts leadership to ensure modernisation efforts remain on track, identifying dependencies and sequencing risks early.

Sales Function & Customer Success

  • Support the build-out of a structured sales function by coordinating across leadership on operating model, tooling, and processes.
  • Drive the revamp of customer success by facilitating alignment on the new model and tracking execution progress.
  • Ensure alignment between sales and customer success to operate as an integrated commercial engine.

Business Operations

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and work with relevant teams to improve processes, introduce automation, or enhance coordination.
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards to provide leadership with real-time visibility into transformation progress and business performance.
  • Promote execution discipline and accountability across the organisation.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as a central coordination point between leadership and operational teams to ensure strategic priorities are clearly understood and executed.
  • Facilitate alignment across departments, identifying and resolving conflicts early.
  • Connect priorities across functions to ensure cohesive execution.

Key Requirements

  • 10–15 years of experience in strategy, management consulting, transformation, or operations, ideally within technology, fintech, or high-growth environments.
  • Experience coordinating or governing large-scale transformation programmes, including ERP implementations or operational modernisation.
  • Ability to work across finance, sales, customer success, and operations without needing to be a deep specialist in a single function.
  • Strong generalist mindset with the ability to connect strategy and execution.
  • Strong instinct for operational priorities, including capacity, sequencing, trade-offs, and performance measurement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to drive accountability without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience building dashboards, interpreting data, and translating insights into decisions.

Expected Outcome From This Role

  • Transformation initiatives are progressing on plan, with clear owners, visible milestones, and issues surfaced and resolved early.
  • ERP rollout remains on track, with finance and accounts teams engaged and adoption managed proactively.
  • Sales function and customer success initiatives gain momentum, with clear decisions and aligned execution.
  • Leadership has real-time visibility of progress, risks, and required decisions.
  • The organisation operates more effectively through stronger coordination, reduced friction, and aligned execution across teams.
