Job Overview

The Executive is responsible for delivering research support services to academic staff, researchers, and postgraduate students. The role promotes the effective use of scholarly information resources, research tools, bibliometric services, research visibility initiatives, and academic liaison activities.

The Executive works closely with faculties to identify research support needs, coordinate information literacy programmes, and contribute to the University’s research, publication, and scholarly communication agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide research consultation and reference support to academic staff, researchers, and postgraduate students.
  2. Deliver training sessions and workshops on information literacy, literature searching, reference management software, research databases, and scholarly communication.
  3. Support researchers in effectively using bibliometric and research impact tools, including Scopus, Web of Science, SciVal, InCites, and Google Scholar.
  4. Assist researchers and academic staff with citation analysis, publication metrics, h-index analysis, journal selection, and research performance reporting.
  5. Promote Open Access publishing, institutional repository services, and initiatives aimed at enhancing research visibility and scholarly impact.
  6. Serve as the Library liaison for assigned faculties by understanding and responding to their teaching, learning, research, and information needs.
  7. Develop and maintain research guides, online learning materials, and user support documentation to facilitate access to scholarly resources and research tools.
  8. Coordinate library orientation programmes, faculty engagement activities, and research-related events and initiatives.
  9. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen research support services, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships.
  10. Monitor resource and service usage statistics and prepare relevant reports to support service improvement, planning, and informed decision-making.
  11. Support collection development by identifying and recommending relevant research resources aligned with academic programmes, faculty requirements, and institutional research priorities.
  12. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Library & Knowledge Management Centre.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library & Information Science, Information Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in an academic library or higher education institution.
  • Sound knowledge of academic databases, research information resources, and scholarly communication.
  • Familiarity with reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley, and Zotero.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital collaboration tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting research, publication, or academic liaison services within a university or academic library environment.
  • Familiarity with bibliometric and research analytics tools such as Scopus, Web of Science, SciVal, InCites, ORCID, and Google Scholar.
  • Experience in conducting information literacy, research skills, or scholarly communication training.
  • Knowledge of institutional repositories, Open Access publishing, copyright, and research data management.
  • Experience in preparing research reports, publication analyses, bibliometric reports, and research performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with research visibility and impact initiatives, including researcher profiles, citation tracking, and academic networking platforms.
