1. Program Overview
This internship program is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Physical Asset Lifecycle Management.
Participants will contribute to a mission-critical initiative aimed at establishing a “Single Source of Truth” for the organization’s physical assets and infrastructure.
More than a standard inventory exercise, this program is structured as a Forensic Audit and Digital Transformation initiative. Interns will be involved in the digital onboarding, verification, and traceability of high-value assets across multiple environments, including high-tech laboratories, corporate offices, academic facilities, and residential accommodations.
2. The 3-Month Strategic Roadmap
Month 1: Portfolio Discovery & Forensic Audit
Taxonomy Development
- Learn how to classify assets into standardized hierarchies and categories.
- Understand the distinction between Capital Expenditure (CapEx) and Operating Expense (OpEx) assets.
Physical Verification
- Conduct detailed asset verification exercises across campuses, laboratories, and residential facilities.
- Validate asset existence, ownership, location, and physical condition.
Digital Identity Assignment
- Implement QR/RFID-based identification systems to provide each asset with a unique and traceable digital identity.
Month 2: Digital Twin Mapping & Systems Integration
Data Reconciliation
- Compare physical asset records against procurement documents, financial ledgers, and existing databases to identify discrepancies.
ERP & ITSM Integration
- Learn how digital asset identities are registered and managed within enterprise systems such as SAP and Jira Service Management.
Spatial Mapping
- Visualize and analyze asset distribution across facility zones to better understand infrastructure utilization and resource density.
Month 3: Governance, Compliance & Risk Mitigation (Capstone Phase)
Regulatory Alignment
- Support compliance efforts for laboratory and research equipment, including calibration schedules and safety requirements.
Lifecycle Stewardship
- Analyze asset “Health Scores” to predict replacement cycles and minimize operational downtime.
Loss Prevention Frameworks
- Assist in designing “Chain of Custody” protocols to improve accountability for assets within accommodation and office environments.
Infrastructure Analytics
- Develop Resource Utilization Reports and operational insights for senior management.
Process Engineering
- Identify bottlenecks in current asset acquisition and movement processes and recommend workflow improvements.
Final Presentation
- Deliver a strategic roadmap for the long-term governance and maintenance of the organization’s physical infrastructure.
3. Professional Competencies Gained
