The Human Resources and People Business Partner (HRPB) acts as a trusted advisor to university leadership, aligning HR strategies with institutional goals. This role drives employee engagement, performance excellence, and HR service delivery across academic and non-academic staff, ensuring a thriving and compliant workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Partnering

  • Collaborate with leadership and department heads to shape HR strategies that support university objectives.
  • Lead workforce planning, organizational development, and change management initiatives.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment by proactively addressing employee concerns.
  • Design and implement initiatives to boost staff engagement and satisfaction.
  • Provide guidance on conflict resolution, grievances, and disciplinary matters.

Performance Management

  • Partner with departments to set, monitor, and review performance goals.
  • Support staff development through coaching, feedback, and structured performance reviews.

HR Policies & Compliance

  • Advise on employment law, workplace investigations, and disciplinary processes.
  • Manage Domestic Inquiry (DI) proceedings, ensuring fairness and due process.
  • Liaise with authorities (Industrial Relations Department, Labor Office) on employment disputes.

HR Analytics & Reporting

  • Deliver insights through HR metrics such as turnover, engagement, and workforce trends.
  • Use data to recommend improvements and support evidence-based decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of HRBP or equivalent experience, ideally within a university or academic institution.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven expertise in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines.
