Overview

The Commercial Finance Manager plays a critical role in driving financial performance and supporting strategic decision-making. This position involves monitoring and analyzing financial and sales metrics to identify performance gaps, providing actionable insights, and aligning financial planning with overall business strategies. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize costs, improve profitability, and evaluate new initiatives.

The ultimate objective is to support strategic growth, enhance financial performance, and enable data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performance & Data Analysis

  • Monitor and analyze key financial and sales metrics (revenue, expenses, profit margins, sales growth).
  • Conduct variance analysis between forecasts, actuals, and historical trends.
  • Identify underperforming areas and recommend corrective actions to stakeholders.

2. Strategic Partnering & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cost center owners and business partners to align financial planning with strategic targets.
  • Partner with marketing and sales teams to optimize customer acquisition and retention strategies.

3. Forecasting, Budgeting & Strategic Planning

  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts and sales projections using historical data and market trends.
  • Assist leadership in setting realistic financial and sales targets.
  • Lead preparation of sales budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analyses to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to long-term financial planning for expansion initiatives.

4. Reporting & Visualization

  • Prepare detailed financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate insights effectively.
  • Deliver accurate and timely reports to support executive decision-making.
  • Automate reporting processes using BI tools to improve efficiency.

5. Cost & Revenue Optimization

  • Monitor and analyze cost structures to identify savings opportunities.
  • Evaluate profitability of international markets and recommend improvement strategies.
  • Analyze customer acquisition costs and lifetime value metrics to drive efficiency.
  • Support resource allocation decisions to balance financial and sales priorities.

6. Tools & Systems Proficiency

  • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for financial management.
  • Leverage BI tools (e.g., Power BI) for advanced visualisation and reporting.
  • Apply advanced Excel and financial modelling techniques for data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Statistics, or related field.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, reporting, and market research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, modeling).
  • Strong communication skills to present complex data clearly to stakeholders.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
