JOB OVERVIEW
Clinical instructors are fully qualified physiotherapist Officer who provides real-life training and experience in physical management of patient to the students.
As a mentor to the students, and the skills that taught to the student during their clinical placement are essential for the student education in total patient management and to ensure them to graduate as competence, efficient and safe practitioner.
Involve in clinical teaching, assessment, evaluation of the student performance in clinical and also as a liaison officer between university and industry and responsible to improve collaboration with industry
Responsibilities
Campus:
- To assist in administration tasks (if required by the Programme coordinator) such as MQA preparation, documentation etc.
- To prepare, conduct or assist in the practical sessions and practical exam at campus and sites.
- To prepare and provide planning for students' clinical posting (preferably 3 weeks before).
- To provide clinical briefing in campus prior to every clinical posting include providing information to the student on the clinical site, including general policies and procedures, emergency procedures, philosophy of the site's clinical education program, goals and expectations for the student / Local Preceptor s while at the clinica posting, and student learning objectives. Any other relevant task as required by the faculty.
Clinical_site;
- To acknowledge their presence at clinical sites.
- To plan and provide teaching and enhancement of clinical skills, and appropriate clinical learning experiences for the students including to provide appropriate supervision and guidance to the student throughout the clinical experience.
- To assess and evaluate student's performance according to modalities avallable in clinical areas, and ensure students gets practical exposure and enough hand-on skills during clinical posting
- As a mediator between Local Preceptor, Programme Coordinator, academic and the respective students
- Maintain communication with the Programme Coordinator and academic team member regarding the student's performance.
- Contact the Programme Coordinator with unexcused student absences or other student requests that are not consistent with a positive learning experience
- To check and assess the student's clinical logbook and workbook and compile final & course work mark for clinical subjects and enter marks into TCS and filing.
Continuous Self Development:
- To update on clinical skills by attending CPD and clinical attachment and participate in development courses offered to enhance clinical instruction skills.
- Demonstrate clinical competence and legal and ethical behavior that meets or exceeds the expectations of the Assistant Medical Officer profession
- Act as a role model for ethical, legal, and professional behavior.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
- Qualified as physiotherapist and registered with physiotherapy body/board.
- Possess minimum qualification with a Diploma in physiotherapy/ Bachelor in physiotherapy with any recognized institutions in Malaysia and abroad
- Minimum of THREE (3) years working experience as physiotherapist
Preffered Qualifications
i.Area of interest:
ii. Preferably possess Advance Diploma or Certificate in related field.
iii. Possess a valid teaching permit as required by the Ministry of Education
iv.Possess certificate in Teaching Methodology or equivalent recognized by MaA (Exemption of the above conditions may be granted subject to approval by the physiotherapy accreditation
