The Test Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing testing activities across projects to ensure software products meet defined quality, functional, and business requirements. The role involves leading the testing team, managing test execution, identifying risks, and working closely with developers, business stakeholders, and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the testing team throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test Scenarios, and Test Cases.
- Review business and technical requirements to ensure they are testable and complete.
- Coordinate functional, integration, system, regression, FT, UAT, FAT, and other testing activities.
- Allocate testing tasks and monitor team progress against project timelines.
- Track, analyse, and report defects using appropriate defect-management tools.
- Work closely with developers and business stakeholders to investigate and resolve defects.
- Identify testing risks, dependencies, and potential quality issues, and provide mitigation plans.
- Monitor test execution and provide regular test status, progress, and quality reports.
- Ensure appropriate test coverage and adherence to QA standards and processes.
- Support automation initiatives and identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency.
- Coordinate testing activities across multiple teams, systems, or vendors where required.
- Participate in release readiness assessments and provide testing sign-off/recommendations.
- Mentor and guide QA engineers and promote best practices in software testing.
- Continuously improve testing processes, methodologies, and quality standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of software testing/QA experience, with relevant experience leading testing activities.
- Strong knowledge of SDLC, STLC, and software testing methodologies.
- Experience in creating test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test reports.
- Strong understanding of defect management and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and/or Waterfall methodologies.
- Good knowledge of test management and defect-tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with API testing, database testing, and integration testing.
- Knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of performance, security, or accessibility testing.
- Relevant QA/testing certification such as ISTQB is an advantage. i.e. ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Manager, ISTQB
- Advanced Level – Test Analyst, ICAgile Certified Professional – Agile Testing (ICP-TST)
