System Analyst

Location: Subang Jaya, Selangor

Employment Type: Contract

We are seeking a detail-oriented System Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and improving our IT systems, ensuring they meet the business needs and requirements. You will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement changes to enhance system performance.

Key Responsibilities

Business and user requirements

• Gather and analyze requirements from business users through interviews, workshops and process reviews.
• Document current-state and future-state business/process flows using flow diagrams.

System requirements

• Translate user requirements into use-case diagrams and detailed use-case specifications.
• Define functional and non-functional requirements and keep them traceable through delivery.

System design

• Produce activity diagrams and activity specifications for each key process.
• Design wireframes and screen flows in Balsamiq or Figma and validate them with users.
• Prepare data flow diagrams showing how data moves between processes, stores and external parties.

Database design and SQL

• Create database design specifications, including logical and physical diagrams.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries; prepare DDL, CRUD scripts and stored procedures.
• Review query performance and recommend indexing or schema improvements.

System integration

• Write integration specification documents covering interfaces, triggers, error handling and security.
• Define data mapping and API specifications for REST and SOAP services.

Delivery support

• Walk developers and testers through the specifications and answer design questions.
• Support UAT by clarifying requirements and assessing change requests.
• Keep all analysis and design documents current and version controlled.

Required Skills and Competencies

The candidate must be proficient in all six areas below.

Added Advantages

• Active or previous programming experience, frontend or backend, so specifications are written with implementation in mind.
• Familiarity with microservices concepts, including service boundaries, API-first design and asynchronous messaging.
• Strong communication and writing skills: able to explain technical topics to business users and write clear, unambiguous documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a system analyst, business analyst or software developer.
• Proven experience delivering specification documents for at least one full project lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle or Informix.
• Working knowledge of diagramming and design tools, such as Balsamiq, Figma, Draw.io or Visio.
• Good written and spoken English and BM.
