Job Purpose
- To ensure a successful implementation of tools issuance, accountability and traceability.
- To ensure that precision tools are timely calibrated, common tools and ground support equipment are well maintained and in good working condition.
- To ensure that store remain clean, organized and the facility is secured during and after working hours.
- To provide logistic and ground support to the Engineering Department
Key Job Accountabilities
Tooling
- The tools and equipment placed under the control of the tool store shall be those approved by the maintenance data or those approved as an alternative tool or equipment by an alternative tooling equivalence assessment by Deputy Maintenance Manager or his designate.
- A list of the tools segregated by the aircraft type or workshop requirements shall be made available and updated.
- Tools and equipment shall be maintained and serviced in accordance with the tooling manufacturer’s recommendations
- For this purpose, the Tool Storeman shall review the individual tooling maintenance and servicing needs from the provided tooling manual.
- As such, a list of all tools and equipment that requires servicing and/ or calibration is available and updated.
- The tooling requiring servicing and/ or calibration shall be attached with the due date decal to facilitate the inspection of the said tooling.
- The incoming tools and equipment from purchase, servicing, calibration, return from loan, loan from supplier or vendor or other operator have successfully undergone incoming inspection by the Store Inspectors and the required documentations are enclosed. A label shall be attached to all calibration tools after inspection before placing into service.
- Calibrated tools obtained from a Malaysian supplier or operator shall be attached with the documents stating the calibration carried out by a calibration laboratory accredited by the Department of Standards Malaysia (Standards Malaysia) who is a signatory to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation – Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ILAC-MRA).
- Calibrated tools obtained from a foreign supplier or operator shall be attached with the documents stating the calibration was carried out by a calibration laboratory accredited by ILAC-MRA.
- However, if the original tool manufacturer carried out the calibration, a certificate stating compliance to the ISO/IEC 17025 shall be sufficient.
- Although the tooling received with the appropriate certifications as required above, it is the duty of the Tool Storeman to ensure, the servicing and/ or calibration due date is still valid and the tooling is inspected visually for any transit damage.
- Archiving and updating of all tooling records.
- The tooling records of shall be retained for a period of three years after the tooling has been permanently withdrawn from service.
Consumables
- All consumables required shall be acquired from a LM Approved Provider List. As such the Tool Storeman shall forward a RFQ for the consumables to the Approved Provider
- The consumables received from the Approved Provider shall have to successfully gone through the Store Inspector receiving inspection and have been tagged by the Store Inspector
- The tag shall indicate the shelf-life expiry as specified on the item packaging, Technical Data Sheet or the Material Safety Data Sheet.
- The consumables shall be stored in POL store in accordance with the requirements of the item Technical Data Sheet & Material Safety Data Sheet or as stipulated on the item packaging to maximize the shelf life of the item.
Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
- The AWM Ground Support Equipment such as Battery Start Units, Ground Power Units, Hydraulic Test rig, aircraft jacks, etc., shall be under the control of the Tool Storeman.
- The GSE shall be maintained and serviced periodically in accordance with the equipment manual and upon completion of the maintenance or servicing, the Tool Storeman shall affix a decal stating the serviceability and the next maintenance/ servicing due date.
- As such, the Tool Storeman shall record and monitor the servicing and maintenance expiry dates of the GSEs operated by AWM.
- If the maintenance or servicing of the GSE is considered a simple task such as topping up, drain and refill, tyre and wheel change using standard tools which is covered under the GSE manual, the Tool Storeman may carry out the task if he or she is from a technical background and understands the instructions given in the GSE manual.
- Complex maintenance such as proof load test, generator load test, battery capacity check, hydraulic jack load test and servicing using special equipment shall be carried out by a LM Approved Provider.
- Tool Storeman shall forward the request for maintenance or servicing to Maintenance Manager and forward the respective GSE unit to the Store Dispatch area.
