We are looking for an HR Generalist who can champion our culture, find the finest industry talent and ensure our day-to-day operations run smoothly.
Position Overview
As a HR Generalist, you will be in the team that is the backbone of our studio’s people operations. This is a comprehensive, hands-on role where you will manage full-cycle recruitment, safeguard compliance, handle compensation & benefits, and oversee daily office/studio logistics. You are the ultimate multi-tasker who bridges the gap between creative production needs and structured HR foundations.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Full-Cycle Recruitment: Source, screen, interview, and close top-tier creative and technical talent (e.g., Artists, Animators, Riggers, Project Managers, and Developers).
- Seamless Onboarding: Design and deliver an exceptional onboarding experience, managing all day-one logistics, IT equipment coordination, and cultural integration.
HR Regulatory Compliance
- Labor Law Adherence: Ensure the studio remains fully compliant with local employment laws, remote-work regulations, and independent contractor classification guidelines.
- Policy Management: Own, update, and enforce the employee handbook and general workplace policies to protect both the staff and the studio.
- Record Keeping: Maintain pristine, confidential digital employee and contractor personnel files.
Day-to-Day HR Operations
- Studio Logistics: Manage day-to-day HR administrative tasks, employee requests, and general studio upkeep.
- Contractor Management: Oversee the unique logistics of outsourcing, including tracking freelance contracts, NDAs, and project-based extensions.
Compensation & Benefits Administration
- Payroll Processing: Track and compile monthly hours, project bonuses, overtime, and approved PTO to deliver accurate data to our payroll processor.
- Benefits Oversight: Manage enrolment, queries, and updates for company health insurance, retirement plans, and other studio perks.
- Salary Tracking: Help track and review compensation adjustments to keep our rates competitive within the games and animation industry.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience as an HR Generalist, ideally within the gaming, animation, VFX, or a fast-paced creative tech environment.
- The "Creative" Lens: Ability or interest to navigate creative portfolios, ArtStation profiles, and understand technical industry pipelines.
- Legal Literacy: Solid foundational knowledge of Malaysian employment standards, contractor regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Organization: High attention to detail—you are as comfortable checking a contract clause or a payroll spreadsheet as you are chatting with artists.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.
