Description
An Animation Director is responsible for the quality of the animation in all the projects and is always striving to push animation quality to the highest possible level. An Animation Director gives direction and guidance to the team to ensure the animation delivered in consistent performance and to ensure the story is well expressed according to the brief.
An Animation Director have excellent storytelling and cinematography skill, leading the animation team to create remarkable animation movement that creates a more engaging experience with the audiences.
Job Responsibilities
- Overseeing the animation department and involve in departmental decision making
- Overseeing the animation quality of all the projects.
- Review, approve and troubleshoot animation shots on daily basis.
- Thorough understanding of brief, story, and all creative and technical aspect of the project requirement
- Responsible for directing and guiding the animation deliveries on schedule and on budget, by balancing artistic and productivity requirements.
- Supervise animation team to design and create new techniques in bringing animation quality to the highest possible level and create a more engaging experience with the audiences
- Providing professional creative and technical inputs to clients, to ensure the story of is well expressed in all the projects.
- Providing sufficient animation references and information for the team
- Work closely with Production Management and various departments (Modelling, Assembly, FX & Rigging Team) to ensure creative and effective production, in meeting high standard of quality requirement
- Able to guide artists professionally in their career growth by providing training, mentoring, performance review, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale within the team.
- Actively communicate with various departments and execute innovative techniques in problem-solving the creative and technical issue
- Frequently participate in meetings with department heads, production management and clients
- Assist HR team in school visitation, studio visitation and recruitment process
- Perform miscellaneous job-related as assigned
Job Requirements
- 8 and above years of significant experiences in 3D character animation for characters, creatures, animals, and objects in Feature Films, TV, and Games
- 3 and above years of directing experiences in high quality animation for film production, animation TV series or visual effects
- Extensive knowledge in Maya, and other proprietary animation tools
- Extensive knowledge of animation principles, human anatomy, body languages, acting, and animation setup
- Solid knowledge and understanding of storytelling and cinematography
- Extensive technical and creative knowledge in animation to solve critical problem in the production
- Knowledge of animation TV series, cinematic or game development pipeline
- Have great imagination, keen eye for details and high aesthetic judgement
- Autonomous, organized and with excellent interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach
- Adaptability, especially in terms of work quality and time constraints
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
- Self-motivated, highly responsive, and flexible
- Create and maintain a good team dynamic.
