Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate 3D Artist to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming 2D concepts into high-fidelity 3D assets, ranging from hero characters or immersive environments. The ideal candidate is a master of form, silhouette, and texture, possessing the technical discipline to deliver assets that are fully optimized for high-end game engines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Asset Creation & Technical Execution
- High-to-Low Poly Workflow: Execute the full modeling pipeline, including high-poly sculpting, retopology, UV unwrapping, and baking (Normal, AO, Curvature, etc.).
- PBR Texturing: Create high-quality, photorealistic, or stylized textures using Substance Painter/Designer, ensuring all materials align with Physical Based Rendering standards.
- Hard Surface & Organic Modeling: Construct complex characters, sets, props, and vehicles that strictly adhere to provided concept art and technical specifications.
- Engine Integration: Import and set up assets, ensuring that LODs (Level of Detail), collision, and material instances are correctly configured.
2. Collaboration & Mentorship
- Pipeline Synergy: Work closely with Rigging and Animation teams to ensure models have the correct edge flow and topology for deformation.
- Knowledge Sharing: Actively research and communicate new tools, plugins, or workflows (e.g., Nanite/Lumen optimization) to the wider department.
- Junior Mentorship: Provide guidance and constructive feedback to junior modelers, helping them elevate their technical skills to meet studio benchmarks.
3. Quality & Project Management
- Deadline Discipline: Deliver high-quality work within stipulated timeframes, maintaining a high level of productivity in a fast-paced outsource environment.
- Iterative Refinement: Proactively apply feedback from Art Directors and clients to ensure the final asset exceeds expectations.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in 3D modeling for games or film.
- Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in 3D authoring tools like Autodesk Maya, ZBrush and Substance Painter.
- Technical Foundation: A deep understanding of topology, UV layout optimization, and the limitations of real-time rendering.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of work (organic and hard surface) with a clear eye for anatomy, scale, and surface detail.
- Adaptability: The ability to switch between different art styles, from hyper-realistic AAA to stylized/hand-painted based on client needs.
- Resilience: Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and meet strict delivery deadlines.
Beneficial Skills (Bonus)
- Technical Art: Experience with shader creation (HLSL/Node-based), scripting (Python/MEL), or procedural workflows in Houdini.
- Lighting & LookDev: Basic knowledge of lighting setups and cinematic rendering for portfolio-level presentation.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with version control software (e.g., Perforce, Git) and production tracking tools (e.g., ShotGrid).
