Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Oro Bay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.

We are currently seeking for Depot Supervisor to be based at our Rabaul Depot, East New Britain Province.

The Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Depot Manager, the incumbents will be responsible for providing leadership support to the Depot Manager in ensuring depots maintained high standard of safety, operations processes and procedures are met. This role will also enhance high standard of tanker loading and maintaining discharge operations.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Plan & delegate planned activities that will be carried out by the Yard Supervisors, foreman & operations staff in the depot.
  • Plan & Implement Training using SOPs/OJT with new hires and Operation Trainees
  • Involved with Planning & Coordinating of Marine Tanker & Bunker Operations with Yard Supervisors, and Operations Team.
  • Plan & coordinate Safety Training/Meetings & activities scheduled by the SHE & Training Officers
  • To ensure correct Processes and Procedures are available to the Yard Supervisors for guidance and implementations.
  • Review, Plan & Coordinate Fitters to attend to the Corrective Actions on Preventative Maintenance listed in the Depots GENCO register and address in a timely manner.
  • Closely monitor & oversee Yard Supervisors and foreman in respective yard activities and provide support.
  • Assess trainees and operators undertaking various task on OJT/SOPs and confirm competency level or recommend further training.
  • Maintain effective flow of communication with Depot Manager, Sales Supervisor, Yard Supervisor, and yard Foreman daily.
  • Other duties as and when delegated.

 

Candidates Requirements

  • The person we seek must have the following:
  • Degree level qualification in Engineering, Operations Management, or related fields
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar role
  • Previous experience in the petroleum industry, oil and gas or other wholesale business environment is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with neat and tidy appearance
  • Recent Uni graduates from East new Britain are encouraged to apply.
