Islands Petroleum is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil Lubricants in Papua New Guinea. Islands Petroleum operates bulk fuel and lubricant Depots and Distribution Centres in the Islands, Momase, Southern, and the Highlands regions. Our national head office is based in Kokopo.

We are currently seeking a Tanker Truck Driver to be part of our Operations team to be based at our Konebada Depot in Port Moresby.

The Role & It’s Responsibilities

Reporting to the Depot Manager, the Tanker Truck Driver will be responsible for transporting large quantities of fuel products from the Depot to respective customer sites in a safe and efficient manner. Other responsibilities include:

  • Loading, transporting, and unloading of fuels, lubricants in safe and efficient manner.
  • Complying with all company safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Inspect trucks daily and report any mechanical issues in accordance with company vehicle policy.
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned, which may include working at the facility when not delivering.

Role Requirements

  • Grade 12 Education at least
  • Minimum of 3 years driving experience as a Tanker Truck Driver or experience in driving similar bigger trucks
  • Must have an operator Class 4 Drivers License
  • Experience in a Depot Operations in the downstream petroleum industry would be an advantage.
  • Show proper driving and navigation skills (Defensive Driving)
  • Carry out general workplace hazard identification and keep the workplace free from obstructions.
  • Sound knowledge of road safety regulations and knowledge of local roads and routes
  • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service, communications, and inter-personal skills
  • Neat and tidy appearance
