We are seeking to fill the role of a suitably qualified and experienced Lead Mechanic within our Lae Depot Workshop to oversee the Workshop in ensuring the performance of Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs of all Vehicles including Road tankers & Forklift as well as providing reports to Management on a timely basis. The Incumbent will also be responsible for providing quality service without compromising safety standards on timely manager and providing feedback efficiently. 


Key Responsibilities


Reporting to the Depot Manager or his Delegate , the main responsibilities include:



  • Lead the team in maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety and Security & Environmental protection by complying with Company and statutory policies and procedures. 
  • Overseeing and ensuring that all light vehicles, trucks and Road tankers/Forklifts are always fully functional, by carrying out all routine checks, tests and service at the appropriate intervals, and taking necessary remedial action to rectify any issues detected.
  • Oversee Routine Inspections
  • Reporting of Sub-Standards from Inspections to the workshop supervisors then gets repairs done on a timely manner. 
  • Oversee the housekeeping of the Workshop to be always in a neat and tidy state.
  • Provide guidance and or Coordination in ensuring that all Repairs and Maintenance must be done according to schedules and follow recognized SOP’s and safe processes as required.
  • Assist in providing accurate tool, equipment or spare parts specifications for purchasing of the repair parts, tools or equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by the Depot Manager

 

Key Requirements



  • Diploma or Certificate in Tradesman Mechanic qualifications with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to use strategic insight to identify value creation opportunities across the team.
  • Understanding of different cultures, community and or environment issues.
  • Excellent communication skills in terms of business, problem-solving, mechanical & strategic thinking
  • Willingness to lead, coach, and train subordinates and trainees
