Islands Petroleum is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Orobay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.
With the growth in our business, we are now seeking to recruit a Depot Manager to support our depot operations in PNG.
The Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Depot Manager will be responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day operations of our Depot including sales and delivery of fuel and lubricant products and ensure efficient customer service delivery in an environmentally responsible and safe manner. Other responsibilities include:
- Manage stock on site and stock orders.
- Responsible for the sales and inventory management of the Depot in ensuring that sales and inventory monitored and reconciled reflecting same periodically. Observes adequate replenishment cycles to ensure optimum stock levels for all products.
- Responsible for the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of all aspects of the GENCO and preventive maintenance programs in accordance with the maintenance plans and schedules.
- Promotes occupational health and safety standards and programs targeting zero environmental damage, work-related injuries, and illnesses. Establishes a culture of safety awareness underpinned by an understanding of the principles of duty of care throughout the company’s workforce.
- Reviews operating gain and loss reports submitted by the Depot Stock Clerk.
- Responsible for the management of all company assets and ensuring that the assets are maintained at operational standards.
- Reviews projections for capital and operating expenditure and regularly monitors performance against budgeted financial targets to minimize costs without adversely impacting efficiencies.
- Examines technical trends as they affect the depot’s maintenance activities and proactively implements programs to minimize risks and optimize opportunities, with respect to efficiencies in operation and maintenance procedures.
- Ensures that employees in the company are highly motivated, competent, and well trained and effective systems are in place to provide feedback on performance levels and encourage a high-performance work culture.
- Ensure that all depot reports are done and submitted in a timely manner
- Supervises and mentors all employees. Manages workforce performance, be aware of various depots or customer issues and be ready to proactively address them.
- Administers terminal depot programs and ensures that all employees have met requirements
Candidates Requirements
The person we seek must have the following:
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical field, or a Business Management diploma or Degree with a technical mindset capable of handling technical issues in depot
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in similar industry
- Background in the analyses of fuels and lubricants would be advantage
- Knowledge of Petroleum Industry Products and Facilities.
- Knowledge of Engineering related to maintenance of Fuel Depot facilities
- Stock and Supply Process experience
- Supervisory and Team Management experience
- Well-developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, proficiency Accounting/ Sales and MS Office systems.
- Ability to effectively Train and Mentor staff
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with well-developed time management skills, an ability to prioritize the work.
- Maintain a customer focus and thereby contribute to the growth of the company
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player and neat and tidy appearance
- Must be a PNG national
