Islands Petroleum is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil Lubricants in Papua New Guinea. Islands Petroleum operates bulk fuel and lubricant Depots and Distribution Centres in the Islands, Momase, Southern, and the Highlands regions. Our national head office is based in Kokopo.
We are currently seeking for qualified Fitters for our various depots around the country under our Operations Department.
The Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to Depot Manager, the Fitters will be primarily responsible for managing the Repairs and Maintenance of all Plant & Equipment for Fuel Depots including customer sites Fuel Installations. Other roles and responsibilities include:
- Assist Depot Manager in day-to-day repair and maintenance of the depot. These includes, (i) conduct regular routine inspections of Depot Plant and Equipment, (ii) report sub-standards observations from inspections conducted and ensure repairs are done on a timely manner and; (iii) ensure all new installations are inspected and in compliance to Company requirements before commissioning
- Must show capability, resourcefulness, and motivation to conduct assigned tasks
- Ensure plant and equipment are always fully functional, by conducting all routine checks, tests and measures at appropriate intervals, and taking necessary remedial action to rectify any issues detected
- Carefully plan and properly manage all project activities and material costings
- Maintain cleanliness and perform proper housekeeping of work area
- Ensure full compliance to Work Permit Systems
- Provide Quality Customer Service without compromising HSSE standards, through the timely supply of product, feedback and advice in an efficient manner.
- Conduct regular routine inspections of Commercial and Service Station Customers Plant and Equipment
- Ensure all new installations are inspected and in compliance to Company requirements before commissioning
- Maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security & Environmental protection by complying with company and statutory policies and procedures.
Role Requirements
The person we seek must have:
- College/Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Trade related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in similar industry
- Previous experience in the petroleum, factory, or oil and gas industries would be an advantage.
- Technical skills & experience in pipe fittings and repairs
- Track record of leading and supporting the Operations and Engineering team
- Proactively deliver and perform tasks in a safe manner.
- Able to carry out general workplace hazard identifications and keep the workplace free from obstructions.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
- Neat and tidy appearance
