Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Orobay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.
We are currently seeking for an Assistant Stock Controller under our Finance Department to be based in our Head Office at Kokopo, East New Britain Province.
The Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Stock Controller, the Assistant Stock Controller will directly assist and work closely with the Stock Controller in overseeing and reviewing stocks reconciliation for all fuel and lubricant products across all IP depot operations countrywide. Further, this position will ensure all accounting requirements are met according to established Financial Procedures with zero or minimum errors. Other key responsibilities include:
- Perform inventory audits and analyses and forecast the supply and demand requirements to ensure consistent stock levels of all fuel & lubricant products.
- Investigate and rectify variances/discrepancies and reconcile stock report effectively and efficiently as and when they arise.
- Update, verify and maintain stock accounting journals, ledgers, and other financial inventory records.
- Liaise with finance team to balance stocks and close the system inventory period
- Conduct stock reconciliations for all fuel and lubricant products.
- Ensure system stock reports are balanced with physical stock movements.
- Developing and implementing inventory control systems and practices as and when required
- Conduct stocks/inventory training to depot stock officers.
- Month end closing and reporting to management team.
Candidate Requirements
The person we seek must have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce/Economics or Business Management from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Minimum of 3 years experiences as a Stock or Inventory Controller or similar
- Experience in Pronto or relevant accounting software
- Hands on experience with MS Office
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- A team player with good personality
- Exposure to a complex retail environment, petroleum industry is an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
- Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
- Neat and tidy appearance
