Islands Petroleum is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil Lubricants in Papua New Guinea. Islands Petroleum operates bulk fuel and lubricant Depots and Distribution Centres in the Islands, Momase, Southern, and the Highlands regions. Our national head office is based in Kokopo.
We are currently seeking for Project Engineers within our Engineering Department to be based in our depots in Rabaul and Port Moresby respectively.
The Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Engineering Technical Manager, the Project Engineer/s will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing projects safely on time and within budget. Other responsibilities include:
- Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans in collaboration with Engineering Technical Manager.
- Determine project specifications, customer requirements, performance standards, completing technical studies and preparing costs estimates.
- Completion of assigned work scope consistent with project objectives.
- Ensure smooth transitions between project stages, across sites and between key stakeholders.
- Provide technical support, ensuring customer needs are being attended to. Develop a close relationship with relevant stakeholders and identify strategies to better support customers.
- Liaise with Depot Managers in relation to technical support, make critical decisions based on value for money travel to locations and be proactive in including the Depot Manager in your activities.
- Ensure all plant and equipment are maintained to standard and operational for continual safe storage and discharge of fuel and lubricants across all operational sites in PNG.
- Identify continuously opportunities for growth and improvement in existing operations and infrastructures.
- Promotes occupational health and safety standards and programs targeting zero environmental damage, work-related injuries, and illnesses. Establishes a culture of safety awareness underpinned by an understanding of the principles of duty of care throughout the company’s workforce.
Candidate Requirements
The person we seek must have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 2 years of working experience as a project engineer in Oil and Gas or Petroleum industry through multiple functions and project assignments in engineering, procurement, construction, project management and controlled activities.
- Recent graduates with relevant industrial experience and high academic achievements are encouraged to apply
- Knowledge of industry standards and related work processes
- Knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD
- Project management and supervision skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person
- Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills
- Valid driving license
