Job Objectives
- For INPEX’s operator projects (DW4E and DW2A): Responsible for geological operations during the drilling of exploration wells under the leadership of the project manager. Prepare the work program and budget for geological operations in exploration and appraisal wells, including well logging, mud logging, and data acquisition, and supervise the execution of these operations to ensure they are conducted safely and effectively.
- For SK418 & SK510 projects: Supervise the reviewing, monitoring, and reporting works of geological operations of exploration wells of the projects.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- More than 20 years' experience in Operations Geology is expected in this position.
- Lead and manage all geological activities related to drilling operations of INPEX Malaysia operating block (DW4E).
- Cooperate with the operations team to produce exploration drilling plan and data acquisition plan in line with exploration objectives and finalize the drilling proposal as scheduled.
- Lead and manage the data acquisition planning/preparing/implementation related to subsurface G&G information, including mudlog, LWD, and Wireline, and support formation testing by cooperating with reservoir engineers
- Supervise the Sr. Operation Geologist to lead and manage geological operations during drilling and provide appropriate geological direction to the wellsite. Report/share the geological operations with related project managements (GM, Head of Exploration, Exploration Manager, Operation Manager) to make an important operational decision.
- Supervise the Sr. Operation Geologist to lead and manage post-well analysis and to finalize the geological end of well report in timely manner.
- Closely communicate with and report to the counterparts of the authority, joint venture partners, and Tokyo HQ on information about geological operations promptly, in accordance with prior requirements.
Supervise the review, monitoring, and reporting work on exploration wells of INPEX Malaysia's participating blocks (SK418 & SK510).
- Review well proposals for exploration wells and supervise the well monitoring and reporting work by the operations geologist during the drilling operation. Review the operator’s post-drilling analysis and discuss the results internally and with the operator’s focal point to contribute to the project management.
Contribute to the growth of INPEX Malaysia from his/her expertise.
- Provide necessary guidance and training to operation geologists, wellsite geologists, OJT trainees from PETRONAS or Tokyo HQ.
- Support the Head of Exploration and Exploration Manager in gathering exploration drilling information around the region and networking with related stakeholders for further collaboration.

(PSEP) through its subsidiaries INPEX Malaysia E&P 4E Sdn. Bhd. and INPEX Malaysia E&P SK418 Sdn. Bhd. The PSCs cover Block 4E and Block SK418, offshore hydrocarbon exploration licenses located northeast of Sarawak in Malaysia that were recently awarded to INPEX following PETRONAS’ Malaysia Bid Round 2022.
