The Mission
Direct Lending is a fast-growing, award-winning lending fintech on a mission to empower people’s lives with simple and responsible financing. Having built a sustainable, profitable foundation, we are now entering a scaling-up phase. Our roadmap is clear: scale our needs-based financing, grow our revenue 5X and become IPO-ready by 2030.
We are looking for an Associate Product Manager to support the design, execution, and compliance of our fintech products. You will help shape the roadmap, translate customer insights into features, and ensure every product release is compliant, user-friendly, and impactful. This is a hands-on role for someone eager to learn the full spectrum of product management in a regulated, high-growth environment.
At Direct Lending, success isn't measured by how many features you ship, but by the measurable impact your products have on our customers' lives and our company's growth.
Why Join Direct Lending?
- Ownership from Day One: You will own real products with real impact — not just manage a backlog.
- Breadth of Experience: You will work across the full financing journey — from the moment a customer discovers us to the moment their financing is fully repaid. No two sprints will look the same.
- Speed as a Competitive Advantage: We are a lean team where decisions are made in hours, not months. No death by committee.
- Mission-Driven Work: You will be building products that make financing simple and accessible for people who need it most, while gaining hands-on experience in digital lending, payments, and Malaysia’s dynamic fintech regulatory landscape.
Your Core Responsibilities
1. Product Support & Execution
- Assist in managing the product lifecycle across one or more product areas — from discovery to launch to iteration.
- Write clear, well-structured product requirements that engineers and other stakeholders can execute without ambiguity.
- Work with the Product Manager on product roadmap execution and ensure priorities are aligned to business outcomes.
- Support Loan as a Service partnerships by coordinating product integration tasks.
2. User & Data-Led Thinking
- Ground every product decision in data and user insights, not assumptions.
- Define and track the metrics that matter — conversion, time-to-disbursement, and user satisfaction.
- Conduct user interviews and gather merchant feedback to continuously improve the product experience. Every release is a starting point, not a finish line.
- Ask one question before every product decision: does this make the customer's life simpler and better?
3. Compliance & Risk Awareness
- Work with legal compliance team to ensure features meet KYC/AML, PDPA, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for product releases
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with tech, business, compliance, credit, and operations teams to deliver products that are frictionless for users and compliant by design.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and ensure nothing gets lost between vision and execution.
What Success Looks Like
- Shipped, Measurable Impact: Features you own ship on time, hit their adoption and conversion targets that are set upfront.
- Customer-Backed Decisions: Every meaningful product decision is grounded in customer evidence and data — not opinions — and the team can point to the insight behind each bet.
- A Predictable Delivery Engine: Your squad has a clear roadmap, healthy backlog, and consistent sprint velocity, with stakeholders never wondering what’s coming next or why.
Who You Are
- Minimum 2 years of experience in product management, business analysis, UX research, growth, or a related role — ideally in fintech, financial services, or another regulated, data-rich consumer product.
- Data-driven by default — comfortable using analytics to investigate behaviour and validate hypotheses.
- Outcome-driven — you think in terms of business impact, not just feature delivery.
- Adaptable — comfortable owning different product areas at different stages of growth and switching context without losing momentum.
- Excellent communication skills — able to work across teams and bridge business, tech, and product conversations.
- You build with integrity — you understand that in fintech, trust is the product.
- Never satisfied with good enough — you embrace a growth mindset and are always looking for that 1% improvement.
- Experience with AI-powered products/workflows and fintech regulations is an advantage.
- Curious, detail-oriented, and resilient under pressure — you thrive in fast-paced environments.
