The Mission

Direct Lending is a fast-growing, award-winning lending fintech on a mission to empower people’s lives with simple and responsible financing. Having built a sustainable, profitable foundation, we are now entering a scaling-up phase. Our roadmap is clear: scale our needs-based financing, grow our revenue 5X and become IPO-ready by 2030.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Executive to be the backbone of our finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of daily reconciliations, month-end closing, assist in management reporting, and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on, high-accountability role for a finance professional who thrives on accuracy and takes pride in delivering clean, timely numbers.

Why Join Direct Lending?

  • Own the Numbers: You won’t just process transactions — you will own the accuracy and completeness of the company’s financial statements, directly supporting our growth and IPO journey.
  • Front Row to a Fintech Scaling Story: Work directly with the Financial Controller in a profitable, fast-growing fintech. See how a real financial machine is built from the inside.
  • Grow with the Company: As we scale, this role grows with you. The right candidate will have opportunities to take on greater responsibilities as the finance team expands, including FP&A and investor relationships.

Your Core Responsibilities

  1. Daily Reconciliation
  • Perform daily reconciliation of bank statements against the internal loan management system, ensuring every transaction is matched and accounted for.
  • Investigate and resolve variances promptly; escalate issues that require management attention.
  • Maintain reconciliation logs, supporting schedules, and audit trails to ensure clean, traceable records.
  1. Month-End Closing
  • Drive the month-end close process end to end — record journals, accruals, provisions, and adjustments to ensure timely and accurate closure.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are substantiated.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the month-end closing checklist and timeline to meet reporting deadlines.
  1. Monthly Management Reporting
  • Assist in preparing monthly management reporting packs covering P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow with supporting schedules and variance analysis.
  • Provide clear, concise commentary on financial performance to support management decision-making.
  1. Expense Payments & Accounts Payable
  • Prepare and process expense and supplier payments via bank portals and FPX, ensuring all approvals, documentation, and coding are in order.
  • Maintain vendor master data, credit terms, and ageing schedules; handle vendor queries professionally.
  1. E-Invoicing, SST & WHT Compliance
  • Manage the preparation and timely submission of e-invoices in compliance with LHDN requirements.
  • Support SST computation, filing, and documentation to ensure full compliance.
  • Prepare withholding tax (WHT) computations, remittance, and Form CP37/CP58 submissions within statutory deadlines.

What Success Looks Like

  • Accurate & Complete Financial Statements: The general ledger and financial statements are accurate, fully reconciled, and audit-ready at all times.
  • Timely Month-End Close: Month-end closing is completed within the agreed timeline every month, with no carryover items.
  • Full Regulatory Compliance: E-invoicing, SST returns, and WHT submissions are filed accurately and on time with zero penalties.

Who You Are

  • 3–5 years of experience in audit, commercial accounting, or finance operations, ideally in a fintech, financial services, or high-transaction-volume environment.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with month-end closing — you have run or significantly contributed to the close process and understand what it takes to deliver clean numbers on time.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfortable working with reconciliations, large data sets, and financial models.
  • Familiarity with e-invoicing, SST, and WHT requirements in Malaysia — you know the basics and can hit the ground running.
  • Meticulous attention to detail — you spot discrepancies others miss, you investigate, and you close the loop.
  • Resilient under pressure — you stay calm and organised during month-end crunch and tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
