We're looking for a hands-on Full Stack Developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and building products that create real impact. This role goes beyond software development. You'll work closely with the CEO, Fractional CTO, product teams, and external engineering partners to design, develop, and scale digital platforms serving millions of users across Africa, while preparing for a future leadership role within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js).
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs connecting web applications, USSD platforms, mobile services, and third-party integrations.
• Develop user-friendly, responsive interfaces optimised for low-bandwidth and mobile-first environments.
• Support the setup, management, and optimisation of AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and system performance.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment processes to improve software quality and delivery.
• Collaborate with outsourced engineering teams to plan sprints, review code, resolve technical issues, and deliver product enhancements.
• Support AI-powered applications through OpenAI and Anthropic Claude API integrations, ensuring reliable and scalable implementations.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, API documentation, and development standards.
• Participate in solution design, system architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives that support business growth.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into practical, scalable technology solutions.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Solid experience working with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, API Gateway, and Lambda.
• Experience with Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience

• 4–6 years' experience in Full Stack Software Development using the MERN technology stack.
• Experience with AWS cloud services, DevOps practices, and infrastructure management.
• Experience integrating AI platforms, APIs, or machine learning services will be an added advantage.
• Experience working with telecommunications, USSD, IVR, digital platforms, or mobile applications will be an added advantage.
• Previous experience working in startup, scale-up, or fast-paced technology environments will be an added advantage.
• Experience leading projects, mentoring developers, or coordinating distributed engineering teams will be an added advantage.
