Australian Business Development Lead (Grants)

Take a technical roadmap and turn it into fundable Australian programs.

The Role

Atomionics is building its presence in Australia from Darwin. You will own the grant and funding work that connects the company's technical roadmap to the right Australian programs, partners and submissions.

This is end-to-end ownership: map the funding landscape, pull the technical narrative out of physicists and engineers, build the application and budget, manage compliance and advisors, and get the submission over the line. As the local presence grows, the role also carries foundational regional work beyond the grant itself.

What You Will Do

• Map and prioritize the grant and funding pipeline, with Australia weighted heavily.
• Own technical and R&D grant applications from opportunity assessment through writing, budgets, compliance and submission.
• Work with physicists and engineers to turn a technical roadmap into a clear, credible funding narrative.
• Coordinate external advisors and keep complex applications moving against deadlines.
• Build reusable grant material, evidence and process so each submission does not start from zero.
• Support foundational regional and operational work as Atomionics' Australian presence grows.

What We Are Looking For

• At least 5 years of experience writing and winning technical or R&D grants, with measurable outcomes you can discuss.
• End-to-end ownership of grant applications, including budgets, compliance and submission management.
• Ability to hold a technical conversation with scientists or engineers and translate the substance without flattening it.
• Australian work rights and willingness to be based in or relocate to Darwin.
• Comfort building a function where some of the process still needs to be created.

Even Better If

• Experience with Australian government R&D, defence, energy, resources or deep-tech funding programs.
• Experience coordinating external grant advisors or consortium partners.
• Background in a technical, scientific or engineering environment.
