The Role
We are looking for a Shopify Web Developer & Automation Specialist to support the development, management, and continuous improvement of the Ask & Embla and Ambi websites. This is a hands-on technical role that also requires strong project coordination skills. You will independently manage smaller website projects from requirements gathering through development, QA, launch, and post-launch monitoring, and support AI and automation initiatives that improve internal processes. What You'll Do
Shopify Development
- Develop and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Manage website content, products, collections, landing pages, navigation, promotions, and related updates
- Support Shopify apps, APIs, webhooks, integrations, and other e-commerce tools
- Troubleshoot theme bugs, app conflicts, tracking issues, website errors, and performance concerns
- Conduct thorough QA across mobile, desktop, browsers, markets, and key customer journeys
- Support both Ask & Embla and Ambi based on business priorities
Project Coordination and Ownership
- Own small to medium website projects from requirements gathering through implementation, QA, launch, and post-launch monitoring
- Translate business requests and designs into clear technical requirements, tasks, timelines, and deliverables
- Coordinate with relevant teams to collect requirements, confirm priorities, and manage project dependencies
- Maintain project trackers and provide clear updates on progress, timelines, risks, and blockers
- Proactively clarify incomplete requirements and identify potential issues before development begins
AI and Automation
- Assist with AI and automation projects, including building, testing, maintaining, and documenting internal tools and workflows
- Identify repetitive processes and translate them into reliable automated workflows
- Integrate Shopify and other e-commerce tools with third-party platforms using APIs, webhooks, and JSON
- Actively use AI-assisted tools for development, automation, troubleshooting, documentation, and process improvement
Process and Documentation
- Improve WebOps processes by creating documentation, checklists, reusable solutions, and preventive measures
- Understand automation testing, error handling, monitoring, and documentation standards
- Work within Git and version-control workflows
- Use project management tools to manage tasks and communicate progress
Who You Are
- Diploma, degree, or equivalent relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
- At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on Shopify development or e-commerce website operations experience
- Strong proficiency in Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with Shopify Dawn or Online Store 2.0 themes is a plus
- Practical experience building automations using APIs, webhooks, scripts, or automation platforms and integrating third-party tools with Shopify
- Comfortable owning website projects end-to-end with minimal supervision, managing timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder updates
- Strong on QA, troubleshooting, and debugging across mobile, desktop, and browsers
- Working knowledge of Git and version-control workflows
- Proactive, organized, and dependable, you communicate risks and blockers early and follow through on what you own
- Comfortable using AI-assisted tools in your day-to-day work and open to learning new technologies
- Genuine resonance with Ask & Embla and Ambi, with a clear understanding of our aesthetic, values, and the community we serve
- Experience with Shopify Plus and managing multiple brands or international storefronts (preferred)
- Familiarity with GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, and Core Web Vitals (preferred)
- Knowledge of Cloudflare, BigQuery, or SQL (preferred)
- Experience with low-code or no-code automation platforms (preferred)
- Strong understanding of e-commerce customer journeys and conversion-focused development (preferred)
