Job Brief
Reporting to the Regional Head of Data & BI, this role requires a hands-on approach to lead a team of data engineers in building and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and analytics platforms - ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and efficient data pipelines, databases, and data infrastructure on cloud solutions.
- Implement ETL processes to integrate data from various sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
- Optimize data pipelines, queries, and infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess technological options, and propose architectural solutions.
- Mentor, coach, and guide a team of data engineers, providing technical leadership and support.
Requirements:
- Strong technical background in designing and implementing data pipelines, databases, and analytical tools.
- Solid understanding of relational databases.
- Extensive experience in Python, SQL, or other scripting languages is required.
- Strong AWS cloud experience with a solid understanding of core AWS services like EC2, S3, and Lambda
- Proven experience in designing scalable, reliable data architectures that support analytics workflow
- Experience in setting up and maintaining any workflow orchestration tool (Eg, Airflow)
- Understanding of distributed computing(Eg. Spark/MapReduce)
- Understanding of Kubernetes cluster
- Self-motivated, proactive and excellent communication skills. Experience in the e-commerce industry is an advantage.
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior engineering role.
- Bachelor's or higher degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant degrees.
