Job Profile: Facilities Technician

Department: Facilities Management

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Job Summary

A Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting building facilities, utilities, and production support equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. The role supports preventive maintenance programs and responds promptly to equipment or facility breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building facilities, utilities, and production support equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, air compressors, pumps, lighting systems, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests to minimize operational downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and maintain utility systems such as power supply, water, compressed air, and fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance work.
  • Maintain maintenance records, service logs, and equipment history documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Support installation, relocation, and commissioning of new equipment and facility upgrades.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and recommend replenishment when necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Assist in workplace housekeeping and ensure maintenance activities follow 5S and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Certificate, Diploma, or Technical Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in facility maintenance, building services, or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and utility systems is an advantage.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance systems and troubleshooting techniques is preferred.
  • Relevant competency certificates or licenses (where applicable) are beneficial.
