Job Profile: Tooling Engineer

Department: Tooling

Reports To: Tooling Manager

Job Summary

You will play a key role in tooling design, performance, and continuous improvement across production.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop tooling solutions such as injection moulds, stamping dies, and assembly fixtures using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or NX).
  • Improve production efficiency by reducing cycle time, material waste, and tooling downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot tooling issues during production to restore stability and quality.
  • Work closely with external toolmakers to manage fabrication, ensure accuracy, and meet required tolerances.
  • Conduct tool trials, evaluate performance, and refine designs until optimal output is achieved.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 1–3 years of experience in tooling, mould design, or precision manufacturing environment. Open to fresh graduates.
  • Experience in CAD-based design and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Exposure to manufacturing or toolroom environment is an added advantage.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong CAD/CAM proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX).
  • Good understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of materials, including plastics, metals, and heat treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with FEA and Moldflow simulation tools is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and communicate technical issues clearly with cross-functional teams and non-engineers.
