Job Profile: Material Planning Executive

Job Summary
A Material Planner is responsible for planning, monitoring, and ensuring the timely availability of raw materials, child parts, components, and packaging materials required to support manufacturing operations. This role works closely with Production, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality, and Suppliers to maintain uninterrupted production while optimizing inventory levels, improving planning accuracy, and minimizing supply chain risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and forecast material requirements based on production schedules, customer demand, sales forecasts, and business priorities.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock to prevent shortages, excess inventory, and production disruptions.
- Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs and adjust material plans according to demand changes and production priorities.
- Generate purchase requisitions or coordinate with the Procurement team for timely material replenishment.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and proactively resolve supply issues.
- Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, Procurement, Quality, and Engineering teams to support manufacturing schedules.
- Track material consumption and analyze usage trends to improve planning accuracy.
- Identify potential shortages, delayed deliveries, excess inventory, and obsolete stock, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate material master data, Bill of Materials (BOM), and planning parameters within the ERP system.
- Support new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and new material implementation.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve material quality issues when required.
- Prepare inventory reports, shortage analyses, planning performance reports, and management updates.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy, reduce waste, improve supply chain efficiency, and achieve cost savings.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Material Planning, Production Planning, Inventory Control, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in automotive, electronics, semiconductor, machinery, FMCG, or other manufacturing industries is an advantage.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, or similar platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
